Senate Resolution 214 By: Senators Harbin of the 16th, Albers of the 56th, Kennedy of the 18th, Strickland of the 42nd, Walker III of the 20th and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Phillip Hampton Sims; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Phillip Hampton Sims on February 7, 2025; and WHEREAS, Phillip Hampton Sims was born in 1956 in Forest Park, Georgia, to the late H.B. Sims and Theresa Staples Sims; and WHEREAS, he and his family moved to Tyrone, Georgia, in 1966 and put down roots on a gorgeous farm; and WHEREAS, after college, he opened a family business, S&S Glass, in Tyrone and served the community at the College Park Fire Department, where he was a fireman for 26 years, retiring in 2007; and WHEREAS, he will be remembered for his big fish personality, providing an endless source of stories; for his desire to not only embrace the outdoors but to instill that passion in others; and for his selfless, unconditional love of family and friends, for whom he was always willing to provide anything he could. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Phillip Hampton Sims and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Phillip Hampton Sims.
