## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Senate resolution congratulates the Charlton County Board of Education for winning a statewide award recognizing its community literacy efforts.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia Senate, not a change to state law. It recognizes the Charlton County Board of Education as a recipient of the Georgia Reads Community Award, given by the Georgia Council on Literacy to communities that build sustained partnerships to improve reading skills.
The resolution describes the board's work with the Charlton County School District, the L4GA program, Ferst Readers of Charlton County, and more than 40 local businesses and organizations to improve reading proficiency among children and families. It directs the Secretary of the Senate to send a copy of the resolution to the Charlton County Board of Education as a formal record of recognition.

### What it does

- Formally congratulates and commends the Charlton County Board of Education for receiving the Georgia Reads Community Award.
- States the award recognizes multi-organization literacy partnerships sustained for at least three years with measurable results.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare and send a copy of the resolution to the Charlton County Board of Education.
- Creates no new law, funding, or requirement; it is a symbolic statement by the Senate.

### Who it affects

The Charlton County Board of Education and its literacy partners, including the Charlton County School District, the L4GA program, Ferst Readers of Charlton County, and more than 40 local businesses and organizations involved in the county's literacy efforts.

### Why it matters

The resolution has no legal effect on Georgians statewide; it is an official acknowledgment from the Senate. For Charlton County, it publicly credits local literacy partnerships for measurable improvements in reading proficiency among children and families.

### Key provisions

- The resolution recites the purpose of the Georgia Reads Community Award, given for sustained, multi-organization literacy partnerships with measurable results.
- It credits the Charlton County Board of Education's partnerships with the L4GA program, Ferst Readers of Charlton County, and over 40 local organizations.
- The operative resolving clause has the Senate congratulate and commend the award recipients, particularly the Charlton County Board of Education.
- A further clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to distribute a copy of the resolution to the board.
