Senate Resolution 22

By: Senators Bearden of the 30th and Brass of the 6th

A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and memory of Scott Justus; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Scott Justus on January 11, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Scott Justus was born on February 24, 1959, in Hendersonville, North Carolina, a beloved son of James Charles and Roberta Griffin Justus; and

WHEREAS, he was an accomplished entrepreneur who devoted more than 30 years to the construction industry, building countless quality homes and serving as a member of the National Association of Home Builders, the Home Builders Association of Georgia, and the West Georgia Board of Realtors; and

WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Scott Justus was an active member of Villa Rica First United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife of 34 years, Lisa, and was blessed with three remarkable children, John, Lauren, and Charles, as well as two wonderful grandchildren, Grady and Madeline; and

WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and

WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Scott Justus will long be remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Scott Justus and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Scott Justus.
