## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia Senate resolution honors Claude J. Page III of Cobb County for decades of volunteer mentorship and service through Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, naming him the chapter's 2024 Omega Man of the Year.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia Senate, not a change to state law. It recognizes Claude J. Page III, a member of the Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity serving North Fulton and Cobb counties, for his volunteer work and community service.
The resolution recounts Mr. Page's history, including joining the fraternity in 1983, his 30-plus year career as a Norfolk Southern locomotive engineer, and his mentorship work with Cobb County elementary and middle school students, a youth summer camp, and a STEM program. The Senate formally commends him and directs the Secretary of the Senate to provide him a copy of the resolution as a keepsake.

### What it does

- Formally recognizes and commends Claude J. Page III for his community service and fraternity work.
- States the Senate's praise of his volunteer mentorship programs in Cobb County schools and youth organizations.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Mr. Page.
- Does not create any new law, funding, or requirement; it is a ceremonial statement of recognition.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names and honors Claude J. Page III. It also references the Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Cobb County schools involved in his mentorship programs, and the Secretary of the Senate, who must distribute the resolution.

### Why it matters

This resolution has no legal effect on Georgians generally; it is a formal, symbolic honor. Its practical impact is limited to publicly recognizing one individual's community service and providing him an official memento from the Georgia Senate.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses describe Mr. Page's fraternity membership, career, and volunteer mentorship activities in Cobb County.
- The resolved clause formally commends Claude J. Page III for his service to the State of Georgia.
- A further resolved clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to make a copy available for distribution to Mr. Page.
