## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia Senate resolution formally commends Kelly Loeffler, a former U.S. Senator from Georgia, for her career and her work as Administrator of the federal Small Business Administration.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia Senate, not a law that changes anyone's rights or obligations. It recounts Kelly Loeffler's background, including growing up on a farm in Illinois, her education, her time as a United States Senator from Georgia, and her work supporting small businesses and economic policy.
The resolution highlights her appointment as Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and her role during the COVID-19 pandemic helping run the Paycheck Protection Program, which provided loans to small businesses. The Senate formally commends her for her career and current federal role, and directs the Secretary of the Senate to make copies available to the public and press.

### What it does

- Formally commends Kelly Loeffler for her career, including her time as a United States Senator from Georgia.
- Recognizes her current role as Administrator of the federal Small Business Administration (SBA).
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare and distribute copies of the resolution to the public and press.
- Creates no new law, funding, or legal requirement; it is a symbolic statement of praise.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names Kelly Loeffler. It does not create obligations for the public, businesses, or state agencies; its only administrative effect is directing the Secretary of the Senate to distribute copies.

### Why it matters

Resolutions like this have no legal effect on Georgians' daily lives. They serve as a public, official record of the Georgia Senate's recognition of an individual's career, in this case a former Georgia senator now serving in a federal role.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses recount Loeffler's biography, education, Senate service, and work on small business and pandemic relief policy.
- The resolved clause has the Senate commend her for her Senate tenure and her ongoing work at the SBA.
- A further resolved clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to distribute copies of the resolution to the public and press.
