A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Delta Air Lines on its centennial anniversary; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, on March 2, 2025, Delta Air Lines will celebrate 100 years of operation,
becoming the first United States airline to reach the centenarian milestone; and
WHEREAS, Delta Air Lines was founded on March 2, 1925, as Huff Daland Dusters, the
world's first aerial crop-dusting company; and
WHEREAS, operating as Delta Air Service, the airline's first passenger flights took off four
years later, and Delta established Atlanta as its headquarters in 1941; and
WHEREAS, today, Delta maintains a team of 100,000 people who deliver a world-class
customer experience on over 4,000 daily flights, with Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson
International Airport serving as Delta's largest hub; and
WHEREAS, over the years, Delta has grown alongside the State of Georgia and today
employs 36,000 Georgians while connecting the cities of Albany, Augusta, Atlanta,
Brunswick, Columbus, Savannah, and Valdosta to destinations around the world; and
WHEREAS, Delta's world-class connectivity strengthens Georgia's position as the top state
for business and contributes to the state's economic vitality; and
WHEREAS, with over 900 peak-day departures to more than 200 global destinations, Delta
connects thousands of people around the globe to and through Atlanta daily; and
WHEREAS, Delta continues to build on its longstanding commitment to Georgia,
maintaining dedicated partnerships with the state's education pipeline, from K-12 schools to
the University System of Georgia and the Technical College System of Georgia, to produce
the next generation of aviation professionals within the state.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize and commend Delta Air Lines upon the grand occasion of its centennial
anniversary and celebrate its century of excellence, innovation, and service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the
press.
