Senate Resolution 260 By: Senator Mangham of the 55th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending James S. Clark, recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of the Sherman Town community in Stone Mountain, Georgia, James S. Clark has faithfully served his fellow citizens as a chauffeur, care giver, handyman, and dedicated provider of meals for the homebound and those in need, preparing weekly meals and cooking for the Forever Young Senior Group twice a month; and WHEREAS, he has further served his community as president of the Stone Mountain Day Committee for over 30 years; actively participated in Piney Grove Lodge 585, where he served a term as Worshipful Master; and contributed to local sports as a player-coach for the Stone Mountain A's softball team for 15 years; and WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, he is a lifelong member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church who has served as part of the Trustee Board and the St. Paul Male Chorus; and WHEREAS, a proud veteran, James S. Clark has also served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Army, completing two tours in Vietnam and earning two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star; and WHEREAS, as additional testament to his dedication to those in need, he has received numerous awards and recognitions throughout his church and community for his untiring and selfless contributions on behalf of others; and WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and he possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and WHEREAS, James S. Clark is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplary individual be appropriately honored during this special time. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend James S. Clark, recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award, and extend sincere best wishes for future health, happiness, and success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to James S. Clark.
