A RESOLUTION
Commending the emergency medical services professionals of Georgia and recognizing
February 28, 2025, as Emergency Medical Services Recognition Day at the state capitol; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Georgia's emergency medical services (EMS) system is celebrating its 49th year
of service; and
WHEREAS, the emergency medical services professionals of Georgia respond to almost one
million calls for assistance annually, risking their lives on a daily basis to go to the aid of
those in need; and
WHEREAS, in the State of Georgia, there are more than 26,000 licensed emergency medical
services personnel who provide the essential life-saving services associated with
out-of-hospital emergency medical care; and
WHEREAS, the goals and services of each of these individuals include illness and injury
prevention; trauma system development; public information and education; prompt, efficient,
and effective delivery of pre-hospital emergency medical care; transportation to the most
appropriate receiving facility; and other activities related to the health and well-being of the
citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, EMS personnel provide access to quality pre-hospital emergency care that
dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of persons stricken with sudden illness
or injury.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
commend the emergency medical services professionals of Georgia for their outstanding and
courageous service to this state and recognize February 28, 2025, as Emergency Medical
Services Recognition Day at the state capitol.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Chad Black,
Chairman of the Georgia Emergency Medical Services Association, and Michael Johnson,
Director of the Georgia Office of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma of the
Department of Public Health.
