WHEREAS, the University of Georgia women's tennis team has established and maintained

athletic ability, dedication, hard work in the right direction, use of tools, and unity of purpose

## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia Senate resolution congratulates the University of Georgia women's tennis team for winning the 2025 ITA National Team Indoor Championship, the program's seventh national title.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution is a ceremonial statement from the Georgia Senate rather than a law that changes anyone's rights or duties. It praises the University of Georgia women's tennis team for winning the 2025 ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) National Team Indoor Championship, describing key moments from the deciding matches, including wins by Guillermina Grant, Anastasiia Lopata, Dasha Vidmanova, Mell Reasco, Sofia Rojas, and Aysegul Mert, and crediting Head Coach Drake Bernstein.
The resolution formally congratulates the team and wishes them continued success. It also directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to the team, which is a common closing step for these commemorative measures.

### What it does

- Formally congratulates the University of Georgia women's tennis team for winning the 2025 ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
- Recounts specific match results from the championship, naming individual players and their scores in doubles and singles play.
- Credits Head Coach Drake Bernstein for leading the team to the title.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to the team.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names the University of Georgia women's tennis team, its individual players, and Head Coach Drake Bernstein. It also involves the Secretary of the Senate, who must prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to the team.

### Why it matters

This is a symbolic honor with no legal or financial effect on Georgians. It formally recognizes the team's championship in the official record of the Georgia Senate and provides the team with a keepsake copy of that recognition.
