A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Apostle Darryl L. Winston; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Apostle Darryl L. Winston has demonstrated his commitment to teaching the Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and

WHEREAS, Apostle Darryl L. Winston accepted the call to ministry in 1986 and was ordained in 1991 at the historic Union Temple Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, in 1995, he organized Greater Works Ministries as an outreach ministry to youth, which has since grown under his exemplary leadership into one of the most innovative churches in the United States; and

WHEREAS, a distinguished pastor, community activist, and youth advocate, Apostle Darryl L. Winston has further founded the Mercy Seat Assembly, the Global Prayer Network, the Shalom Assembly, the F.R.E.D. Initiative, and the Save our City Coalition to serve and support his fellow citizens; and

WHEREAS, as additional testament to his dedication to excellence, Apostle Darryl L. Winston's School of Ministry has trained over 2,000 leaders from diverse denominations and religious affiliations; and

WHEREAS, whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the sick, counseling the troubled, baptizing a new believer, or acting as a theologian, educator, administrator, or humanitarian, Apostle Darryl L. Winston has shown the energy, devotion, and commitment truly reflective of divine guidance; and

WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Apostle Darryl L. Winston is a source of strength and direction for persons in all walks of life; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God's message of peace and love be recognized and congratulated for his innumerable good works rendered on behalf of persons in need.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Apostle Darryl L. Winston for his innumerable good works rendered on behalf of persons in need and extend best wishes for many more years of successful fellowship and leadership.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Apostle Darryl L. Winston.
