A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Major (Ret.) Dorothy A. Britton; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Major (Ret.) Dorothy A. Britton served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Army, demonstrating exceptional dedication and leadership throughout her distinguished 22-year military career; and

WHEREAS, a native of Water Valley, Mississippi, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Alcorn State University, where she received her commission as a Second Lieutenant in May 1989, beginning her service as an Army Ordnance (Logistics) Officer; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career, she served with distinction in both active duty and the Army Reserve, applying her expertise in logistics to ensure operational success and efficiency within the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, following her retirement from military service, she furthered her education by earning a master's degree in human resources administration from Central Michigan University as well as multiple certifications in human resources and real estate; and

WHEREAS, she is a dedicated entrepreneur who currently serves as a REALTOR and the owner of Phoenix Realty and Business Services LLC, where she provides real estate, notary public, and field inspection services; and

WHEREAS, she remains a devoted wife to Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Ret.) Dario Britton and a loving mother to their daughter, Sidney, while also actively supporting New Life Church in Decatur, Georgia, and volunteering within her community; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished individual be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Major (Ret.) Dorothy A. Britton for her exceptional military service, professional achievements, and dedicated community involvement as well as extend the most sincere best wishes for future health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Major (Ret.) Dorothy A. Britton.
