By: Senators Burns of the 23rd, Anderson of the 24th, Hickman of the 4th and Jones II of the
22nd
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Charles G. Newton IV on his outstanding public service; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Charles G. Newton IV has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the
welfare of the citizens of McDuffie County, Georgia; and
WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state, as evidenced
dramatically by his more than two decades of service as chairman of the McDuffie County
Board of Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure, McDuffie County has undergone advancements in
infrastructure, economic development, health care, and community services that have greatly
strengthened the county's future and enhanced the quality of life for all its residents; and
WHEREAS, through his exemplary leadership and advocacy at the state level, Charles G.
Newton IV has secured resources for critical infrastructure projects such as the county-wide
water and sewer system, road improvements, and the East and West Bypass; and
WHEREAS, his accomplishments further include the championing of the county-wide
broadband initiative, the creation of a Boys and Girls Club within the county, and the
construction of the county's new government complex; and
WHEREAS, he has additionally served his community as a member of the McDuffie County
Farm Bureau Board of Directors, the McDuffie County Board of Health, the
Thomson-McDuffie County Water-Sewer Commission, and the Forward McDuffie Board
of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Charles G. Newton IV has served McDuffie County with honor and distinction,
and his vision and unyielding commitment to excellence will be sorely missed upon his
retirement; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize and commend Charles G. Newton IV for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and
dedicated public service to McDuffie County, Georgia; congratulate him upon the grand
occasion of his retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and
happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Charles G.
Newton IV.
