## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia Senate resolution would dedicate a section of State Route 92 in Douglas County as the Perry Parkway in honor of entertainer and Atlanta-based studio owner Tyler Perry.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia Senate rather than a law that changes rights or requirements. It recognizes Tyler Perry's career, from his early stage and film work to his television studio operations in Atlanta, and his charitable giving through groups like Feeding America and his own foundation.
The operative part of the resolution designates the stretch of State Route 92 running from Interstate 20 to Riverside Parkway in Douglas County as the Perry Parkway. It directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to put up and maintain signs marking the new name, and it directs the Secretary of the Senate to send copies of the resolution to Tyler Perry and to the Department of Transportation.

### What it does

- Dedicates the portion of State Route 92 between Interstate 20 and Riverside Parkway in Douglas County as the Perry Parkway.
- Directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the road as the Perry Parkway.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to distribute copies of the resolution to Tyler Perry and the Department of Transportation.
- Recites biographical and philanthropic background about Tyler Perry as the basis for the honor.

### Who it affects

The designation mainly affects the Georgia Department of Transportation, which must post and maintain new road signage, and residents and drivers in Douglas County who use that stretch of State Route 92. It also formally honors Tyler Perry.

### Why it matters

The practical effect is limited to renaming a specific road segment and requiring new signage; it does not change any laws, funding, or rights. It matters mainly as a public, official recognition of Tyler Perry's business and charitable presence in Georgia.

### Key provisions

- The resolving clause designates State Route 92 from Interstate 20 to Riverside Parkway in Douglas County as the Perry Parkway.
- A further resolution authorizes and directs the Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs reflecting the dedication.
- A final clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to provide copies of the resolution to Tyler Perry and the Department of Transportation.
