Senate Resolution 37

A RESOLUTION

Commending and congratulating Martha Haythorn; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Martha Haythorn was born on January 27, 2000, and this year she enjoys the delightful distinction of celebrating her 25th birthday; and

WHEREAS, Martha Haythorn developed her interest in politics through her weekly Zoom show "Mondays with Martha," during which she interviewed state legislators about politics and disability policy as part of her internship with the ARC of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she is a graduate of Georgia Tech's Excel Inclusive Post-Secondary Education program, which provides opportunities for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to pursue higher education and personal growth; and

WHEREAS, Martha Haythorn currently serves as a member of the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities, where she focuses on the Public Policy Committee; and

WHEREAS, she further serves as the senate assistant ante room clerk, a position made available by SB 384, "GAME: Georgia as Model Employer," which was carried by Senator Billy Hickman to promote inclusive employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens; and

WHEREAS, Martha Haythorn possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and

WHEREAS, a kind and generous person, she brings joy and happiness to her family and to the many friends and neighbors who have the great pleasure of knowing her; and

WHEREAS, by the example Martha Haythorn has made of her life, she makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Martha Haythorn for her unselfish, dedicated, and loving service to the members of her family and state; congratulate her on the remarkable occasion of her 25th birthday; and extend their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Martha Haythorn.
