## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Senate resolution would name a stretch of Interstate 85 in Fulton County the Jeff Foxworthy Highway in honor of the Georgia comedian and author.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution honors comedian Jeff Foxworthy, a Georgia native known for his comedy albums, books, and television work. It does not change any general law; instead it directs the state to formally name a specific highway segment after him.
The resolution dedicates the portion of Interstate 85 between Mile Point 73.872 and Mile Point 75 in Fulton County as the Jeff Foxworthy Highway. It directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the dedication, and instructs the Secretary of the Senate to send copies of the resolution to Foxworthy and to the Department of Transportation.

### What it does

- Dedicates the stretch of Interstate 85 between Mile Point 73.872 and Mile Point 75 in Fulton County as the Jeff Foxworthy Highway.
- Directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the dedicated highway segment.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to send copies of the resolution to Jeff Foxworthy and to the Department of Transportation.

### Who it affects

This mainly affects the Georgia Department of Transportation, which must install and maintain the highway signs, and drivers on that stretch of Interstate 85 in Fulton County. It also formally recognizes Jeff Foxworthy himself.

### Why it matters

The resolution has no effect on traffic rules, funding, or regulations; its practical impact is limited to new signage on a short highway segment and a formal, symbolic honor for a Georgia entertainer.

### Key provisions

- The resolution's preamble lists Foxworthy's career accomplishments as the basis for the honor, including his comedy recordings, books, and television hosting work.
- The operative resolving clause dedicates Interstate 85 from Mile Point 73.872 to Mile Point 75 in Fulton County as the Jeff Foxworthy Highway.
- A further resolved clause directs the Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs for the dedication.
- A final clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to distribute copies of the resolution to Foxworthy and the Department of Transportation.
