A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Principal Kimberly Gibbs; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Principal Kimberly Gibbs, a proud graduate of Atlanta Public Schools, has2
demonstrated an unwavering commitment to student success and ed ucational excellence3
throughout her career; and4
WHEREAS, now in her fifth year as a principal and with a decade of experience in school5
leadership, Principal Gibbs has devoted herself to fostering a supportive and empowering6
learning environment where students are encouraged to reach their full potential; and7
WHEREAS, under her leadership, Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School has seen significant8
growth, including a steady 6 percent increase in math and English language arts proficiency9
over the past two years and an 18 percent rise in student enrollment; and10
WHEREAS, she has implemented several key initiatives to enhance student engagement and11
school culture, including the Prowler Pack, a principal advisor y committee that allows12
student leaders to contribute to school improvement efforts, an d regular classroom and13
school-wide community circles to strengthen relationships among students and staff; and14

WHEREAS, Principal Gibbs has also created a beloved daily tradition at Martin Luther King15
Jr. Middle School through her morning inspirational videos, which have become so popular16
that students now sign up for Takeover Fridays to participate in the broadcasts; and17
WHEREAS, she is deeply committed to ensuring equitable access to high-quality education18
for all students, with a particular focus on providing necessar y supports for students with19
disabilities and those from underserved communities; and20
WHEREAS, she believes in the principle of "connection before content," a philosophy that21
has shaped the school's instructional framework; and22
WHEREAS, Principal Gibbs views her role as more than just a school administrator—she23
is a mentor, a guide, and a champion for both students and staff, continually striving to foster24
a strong sense of community and inspire excellence in all those she serves.25
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body26
recognize and commend Principal Kimberly Gibbs for her outstanding leadership, dedication,27
and contributions to Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School and e xtend best wishes for28
continued success.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed30
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Principal31
Kimberly Gibbs.32
