A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Clayton County; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, conveniently located just 12 miles outside of Atlanta, Clayton County is the 5th most populous county in Georgia; and
WHEREAS, established in 1858, the county was named for Augustine Smith Clayton, a judge and United States House of Representatives Member; and
WHEREAS, Clayton County is home to the world's number one busiest airport, HartsField-Jackson International Airport; and
WHEREAS, enhancing the lives of residents, Clayton Parks operates more than 25 parks and recreational areas in the county; and
WHEREAS, Clayton State University offers more than 65 degree programs, and brings a multi-national, global, and sophisticated perspective to the area; and
WHEREAS, Clayton County Public Schools ranks 5th largest school system in the state, offering an exemplary education to young Georgians; and
WHEREAS, Clayton County boasts a strong and diversified economy, characterized by steady growth, low unemployment, and thriving entertainment industries; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the contributions of this outstanding region.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Clayton County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
