50th, Echols of the 49th and others
A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Mr. Abit Massey; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Mr. Abit Massey served this state for many years with honor and distinction as2
President and President Emeritus of the Georgia Poultry Federation; and 3
WHEREAS, Mr. Abit Massey served on numerous boards and commissions across our great4
state; and5
WHEREAS, Mr. Abit Massey graduated from the University of Georg ia with a degree in6
Business Administration and from Emory University with a law degree; and7
WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Kayanne, and was blessed with8
two remarkable children, Lewis and Camille, and four wonderful grandchildren, Chandler,9
Cameryn, Christian, and Lucia Kai; and10
WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Abit Massey served for many years as a11
Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, Georgia; and 12

WHEREAS, Congressman Buddy Carter recently introduced a bill in the United States13
House of Representatives to name the USDA National Poultry Rese arch Center in Athens14
after Mr. Abit Massey; and15
WHEREAS, Mr. Abit Massey spent many joyful and successful days at the State Capitol16
lobbying on behalf of the poultry industry; and 17
WHEREAS, a Celebration of Life attended by hundreds of people took place in July to honor18
the life of Mr. Abit Massey.19
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20
join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Abit Massey and express their deepest and most21
sincere regret on his passing.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed23
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Mr.24
Abit Massey.25
