Senate Resolution 41

A RESOLUTION

Commending the OneGeorgia Authority; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the year 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the OneGeorgia Authority's creation; and

WHEREAS, the OneGeorgia Authority was established in 2000, with legislation enabling the creation of the OneGeorgia Authority being signed into law on April 21, 2000; and

WHEREAS, the OneGeorgia Authority represents a strong partnership between the executive and legislative branches of state government as well as between state and local leaders aligned by mission; and

WHEREAS, the OneGeorgia Authority promotes economic security for Georgians through the development and retention of employment opportunities in rural areas across Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the OneGeorgia Authority serves as a financial partner and catalyst in helping rural communities maintain an excellent quality of life while also creating sustainable and diversified communities; and

WHEREAS, the OneGeorgia Authority is a highly-flexible program that works directly with local governments and authorities to enhance economic opportunities for economic vitality within rural Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the OneGeorgia Authority has invested over $778 million into rural communities in Georgia since its inception in 2000; and

WHEREAS, the OneGeorgia Authority has leveraged over $21 billion in private investment and over $816 million in community investment; and

WHEREAS, through the awarding of 872 awards, the OneGeorgia Authority has spurred the creation of over 65,000 new direct jobs by companies locating or expanding operations in Georgia and facilitated the construction of over 2,500 new housing units; and

WHEREAS, the efforts of the OneGeorgia Authority have contributed to Georgia having been cited by Area Development Magazine as the No. 1 state to conduct business in for 11 straight years.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the OneGeorgia Authority for its significant impact on the lives of rural Georgians as well as on Georgia's economic growth and success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the OneGeorgia Authority.
