A RESOLUTION

Commending Girls on the Run Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Girls on the Run is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that helps girls in grades third through eighth develop social, emotional, and physical skills through running and other activities that build confidence and resilience; and

WHEREAS, Girls on the Run Georgia inspires girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running and envisions a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams; and

WHEREAS, 92 percent of Girls on the Run Georgia participants learned better ways to deal with strong emotions, and 99 percent of participants felt a sense of belonging at Girls on the Run; and

WHEREAS, Girls on the Run Georgia celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2025 and has had the honor and distinction of providing opportunities for girls across the State of Georgia to build confidence, become healthy, manage emotions, resolve conflicts, and form connections with other girls in their communities; and

WHEREAS, Girls on the Run Georgia remains committed to reaching all girls and building confidence through physical activity.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Girls on the Run Georgia and its thousands of stakeholders, including donors, volunteer coaches, staff members, the Board of Directors, the Young Professionals Board, and school and community partners, who have contributed their time, talents, treasure, and testimony to make this milestone possible.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Girls on the Run Georgia.
