## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia Senate resolution designates March 20, 2025 as Buc-ee's Day at the State Capitol, honoring the Texas-based travel center chain's expansion and investment in Georgia.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution is a ceremonial honor from the Georgia Senate rather than a change to state law. It recognizes March 20, 2025 as Buc-ee's Day at the Georgia State Capitol, commending the travel center company for its growing presence in the state, including locations in Warner Robins and Calhoun and planned travel centers in Monroe County and Brunswick.
The resolution highlights Buc-ee's planned 74,000-square-foot travel center in Monroe County, expected to bring about 200 jobs and roughly $4 million a year in local tax revenue, along with a $10 million commitment to nearby road and interchange improvements. It directs the Secretary of the Senate to send a copy of the resolution to Buc-ee's, but it does not create any new legal requirements, funding, or penalties.

### What it does

- Formally designates March 20, 2025 as Buc-ee's Day at the Georgia State Capitol through a Senate resolution.
- Commends Buc-ee's for its investment and expansion in Georgia, including current and planned travel center locations.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare and send a copy of the resolution to Buc-ee's.
- Creates no new statutory requirements, funding, or penalties, since it is a ceremonial resolution rather than a law.

### Who it affects

This mainly affects Buc-ee's as a company, which receives formal recognition from the Georgia Senate. Residents of Monroe County and nearby communities are referenced because of the company's planned travel center, jobs, tax revenue, and road improvements there.

### Why it matters

The resolution itself does not change any law, tax, or regulation; it is a symbolic honor. Its practical significance lies in publicly highlighting Buc-ee's planned Monroe County development, including jobs, tax revenue, and infrastructure spending that the Senate says will affect that local economy.

### Key provisions

- The resolving clause recognizes March 20, 2025 as Buc-ee's Day at the Georgia State Capitol and commends the company's investment in Georgia.
- A further resolved clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to make a copy of the resolution available for distribution to Buc-ee's.
- The whereas clauses describe Buc-ee's history, its Georgia locations, and the planned Monroe County travel center, including 200 jobs, $4 million in projected annual local tax revenue, and a $10 million infrastructure commitment.
