A RESOLUTION

Congratulating AverySunshine on winning Best Progressive R&B Album; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, known professionally as AverySunshine, Denise Nicole White has established herself as a celebrated singer, songwriter, and pianist, blending R&B and soul to create music that resonates with audiences worldwide; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her exceptional artistry and dedication to her craft, AverySunshine won Best Progressive R&B Album for So Glad to Know You, marking both her first nomination and win in this prestigious category; and

WHEREAS, a native of Chester, Pennsylvania, AverySunshine discovered her passion for music at an early age, beginning piano at eight, studying classical music by 11, and expanding into jazz by 13 before performing at her first recital; and

WHEREAS, she refined her musical talents through her involvement with the Wilmington/Chester Mass Choir, her high school choir, and Spelman College in Atlanta, where she initially pursued a degree in piano before earning a degree in philosophy; and

WHEREAS, during college, she co-founded the Gospel and R&B duo DaisyRew with Maia Nkenge Wilson, performing in Africa, churches, and Atlanta venues such as the Apache Café, a platform that helped launch the careers of many notable artists; and

WHEREAS, after college, she served as Minister of Music at St. Paul AME Church in Atlanta, where she met guitarist and producer Dana Johnson, with whom she collaborated to develop her career and establish her distinctive musical identity; and

WHEREAS, under the name AverySunshine, she released her self-titled debut album in 2010, featuring collaborations with renowned musicians such as Takana Miyamoto, Roy Ayers, and Christian McBride as well as earning critical acclaim from USA Today and The Washington Post; and

WHEREAS, she has since performed worldwide, touring extensively across the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Africa, and she has contributed as a keyboardist for distinguished artists such as Tyler Perry and Jennifer Holliday; and

WHEREAS, AverySunshine's win for Best Progressive R&B Album affirms her status as one of the most dedicated and influential artists in Atlanta's music scene, placing her among the greatest performers in the industry.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body congratulate AverySunshine upon winning the Best Progressive R&B Album award and extend best wishes for continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to AverySunshine.
