A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending WCLK Jazz 91.9 for its contributions to Georgia and the jazz1
community; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, WCLK, also known as Jazz 91.9, is a pillar of the Geor gia broadcasting3
community that has served as a beacon of culture, education, and artistic excellence since its4
very first broadcast on April 10, 1974; and5
WHEREAS, WCLK is housed on the historic campus of Clark Atlanta University and has6
spent the last five decades committed to sharing quality multimedia and broadcast programs;7
and8
WHEREAS, WCLK has remained steadfast in its mission to uplift, educate, and inform both9
the Atlanta community and the world while fostering greater awareness of jazz music as a10
unique American art form; and11
WHEREAS, WCLK has played a crucial role in guiding and training students in all aspects12
of broadcast and public media service, equipping future generations with essential skills in13
media production and communication; and14

WHEREAS, WCLK has been instrumental in preserving and promoting jazz music,15
providing a platform for both em erging and established artists, and ensuring that the rich16
musical tradition continues to inspire everyone; and17
WHEREAS, WCLK has continuously demonstrated excellence in radio broadcasting and18
community service, enriching the cultural fabric of Georgia and beyond through its19
dedication to music and public programming.20
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body21
recognize and commend WCLK Jazz 91.9 for its outstanding contri butions to the arts,22
education, and public media as well as extend their best wishes for continued success in its23
mission to serve the community.24
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed25
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to WCLK Jazz 91.9.26
