A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Mr. Cary Williams, Jr., and dedicating a road in his honor; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Mr. Cary Williams, Jr., has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Williams has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced dramatically by his superlative service as an editor and publisher of the Greensboro newspaper, The Herald-Journal; and
WHEREAS, a leader of the Athens community, Mr. Williams' significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating a road in his honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the portion of State Route 15 from mile marker 241.62 to mile marker 247.64 in Greene and Oconee counties is dedicated as the Cary Williams, Jr. Highway.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Cary Williams, Jr. Highway. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Mr. Cary Williams, Jr., and to the Department of Transportation.
