## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia Senate resolution recognizes the Veterans of Foreign Wars on its 125th anniversary and commends the organization for its work supporting veterans.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution is a ceremonial statement from the Georgia Senate, not a change to state law. It recognizes the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) on the 125th anniversary of its founding in 1899, praising the organization's history of advocating for veterans' rights, welfare, and well being, and its work supporting veterans, military personnel, and their families.
The resolution states that the Senate commends the VFW and extends best wishes for its continued success. It also directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to the VFW. The resolution creates no new programs, funding, or legal requirements.

### What it does

- Formally recognizes and commends the Veterans of Foreign Wars on the 125th anniversary of its founding in 1899.
- Extends the Georgia Senate's best wishes for the organization's continued success.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to the VFW.
- Creates no new law, funding, or ongoing obligation, serving only as a ceremonial statement from the Senate.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names the Veterans of Foreign Wars as the honoree. It also touches Georgia veterans, military personnel, and their families whose service the resolution references, and the Secretary of the Senate, who must prepare a copy for distribution.

### Why it matters

The resolution has no legal or financial effect on Georgians; it is a formal, symbolic gesture of recognition. Its practical outcome is that the VFW receives an official copy of the Senate's commendation marking its 125th anniversary.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses describe the VFW's founding in 1899 and its 125 years of advocacy and support for veterans and their families.
- The first resolving clause has the Senate recognize and commend the VFW on its 125th anniversary and wish it continued success.
- The second resolving clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to make a copy available for distribution to the VFW.
