17th, Wicks of the 34th and others
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Reverend Darion Hutcherson upon bein g named the 20251
Counselor of the Year by the Atlanta Public School System; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most3
important objective of the General Assembly; and4
WHEREAS, Reverend Darion Hutcherson has been named the 2025 Counselor of the Year5
by the Atlanta Public School System in recognition of his decad es of outstanding service,6
commitment, and leadership in the field of education; and7
WHEREAS, on Thursday, March 27, 2025, the Atlanta Public School System will host a8
special program in honor of Reverend Hutcherson to celebrate his achievements and present9
him with this well-deserved tribute; and10
WHEREAS, he is a firm believer that "all children can learn," a philosophy that has driven11
his decades of impactful service to students across Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, and12
the nation; and13

WHEREAS, the fruits of his labor include numerous professional athletes, doctors, lawyers,14
elected officials, public servants, educators, and members of the United States Armed Forces15
who carry forward the values and discipline instilled through his guidance; and16
WHEREAS, his unwavering devotion to the children of the City of Atlanta, Fulton County,17
the State of Georgia, and the nation has earned him the admirat ion and respect of peers,18
students, and communities alike; and19
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le individual be20
appropriately honored during this special time.21
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body22
recognize and commend Reverend Darion Hutcherson, the 2025 Counselor of the Year, for23
his decades of exemplary service in education and youth development as well as extend best24
wishes for continued success.25
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed26
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Reverend Darion27
Hutcherson.28
