## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia Senate resolution commends Colt's Manufacturing Company for its firearm safety initiatives, including a new award program recognizing nonprofits focused on responsible gun ownership.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia Senate rather than a change to state law. It praises Colt's Manufacturing Company, a firearms maker, for what the resolution describes as its long history and its recent Safety Impact Award program.
The resolution notes that four former NFL players serve as ambassadors for the award and each donated $5,000 to charities such as Project ChildSafe and Ducks Unlimited. It directs the Secretary of the Senate to send a copy of the resolution to Colt's Manufacturing Company as a formal show of recognition. It does not create any new rules, funding, or requirements affecting Georgians.

### What it does

- Formally commends Colt's Manufacturing Company for its stated commitment to safe and responsible firearms ownership.
- Recognizes Colt's Safety Impact Award program and the four athlete ambassadors involved in it.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare and send a copy of the resolution to Colt's Manufacturing Company.
- Creates no new statute, funding, or enforceable rule; it is purely a statement of praise from the Senate.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names Colt's Manufacturing Company and its Safety Impact Award ambassadors and charitable partners. It has no binding effect on Georgia residents, firearm owners, or businesses beyond this formal recognition.

### Why it matters

Because this is a commendation rather than legislation, it changes no laws or requirements for Georgians. Its practical effect is limited to public recognition of a private company's safety programs and a copy of the resolution being sent to that company.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses describe Colt's history and its Safety Impact Award, including $5,000 donations from each of four athlete ambassadors to charities like Project ChildSafe and Ducks Unlimited.
- The resolved clause has the Senate commend Colt's Manufacturing Company for promoting safe and responsible firearm ownership.
- A further resolved clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to send a copy of the resolution to the company.
