## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Senate resolution congratulates Midtown High School for winning the GHSA 4A State Literary Championship in Domestic and International Extemporaneous Speaking.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia Senate, not a change to state law. It recognizes Midtown High School's literary competition team for winning the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) 4A State Literary Championship in both Domestic and International Extemporaneous Speaking categories.
The resolution praises the team's dedication and names seniors Charlotte Keenan and Henry Carter as members of the championship squad. It directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to the school as a keepsake of the honor.

### What it does

- Formally congratulates Midtown High School on behalf of the Senate for winning the GHSA 4A State Literary Championship in extemporaneous speaking.
- Names seniors Charlotte Keenan and Henry Carter as members of the recognized team.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare and distribute an official copy of the resolution to the school.
- Extends the Senate's best wishes for the team's continued future success.

### Who it affects

Midtown High School, its extemporaneous speaking team, and the named students Charlotte Keenan and Henry Carter are directly recognized. The Secretary of the Senate is tasked with preparing the commemorative copy for distribution.

### Why it matters

The resolution carries no legal or regulatory effect and creates no new rules, funding, or requirements. Its practical impact is symbolic: an official state recognition that the school and students can keep as a record of their academic achievement.

### Key provisions

- The resolution's whereas clauses describe the team's championship win and highlight seniors Charlotte Keenan and Henry Carter.
- The resolving clause has the Senate formally congratulate Midtown High School and wish the team continued success.
- A further resolving clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to make a copy available for distribution to the school.
