A RESOLUTION
Congratulating Mario Lemons Jr. for winning the 2024-2025 GHSA Class A Division I Boys1
State Basketball Championship; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, the BEST Academy boys basketball team has established and maintained a3
proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and4
WHEREAS, excellent play, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made this team5
a spectacular one to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to its remarkable6
2025 campaign, the team captured its first-ever state championship; and7
WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding8
athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the9
team; its superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astut e direction of coaches Brian10
Weeden, Mario Lemons Sr., Damian Goodwin, and Jessica Johnson; and11
WHEREAS, the team was further supported throughout the season b y Managers ZaMya12
Wallace and Taylor Roach'e as well as Athletic Trainer Lance Hibbert-Parrish; and13

WHEREAS, this all-star team included Xion Evans #1, Jacob Mickell #4, Nicholas Dozier14
#10, Alexander Barrett #11, Mario Lemons Jr. #14, Joshua Mickell #15, Wendell Brown Jr.15
#21, and Curtis Martin #25; and16
WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by17
performing with courage and precision over months of training a nd competition, it is18
abundantly proper to call them champions.19
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20
congratulate Mario Lemons Jr. for winning the 2024-2025 GHSA Class A Division I Boys21
State Basketball Championship and extend best wishes for continued success.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed23
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mario Lemons Jr.24
