A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Chesley McNeil; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Chesley McNeil is a highly regarded member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, the first fraternity founded at a historically Black college, and is active in the Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter, a prominent civic service and charitable organization serving Cobb County; and
WHEREAS, Mr. McNeil has received the highest honor of Omega Psi Phi as the 2025 Omega Man of the Year by the Chi Gamma Gamma Brotherhood, in recognition of his outstanding leadership to the Fraternity at the International, District, State, and Chapter levels; and
WHEREAS, he was initiated into Omega Psi Phi in 2012, becoming an exemplary Omega Man giving generously of his time, talent, and treasures to programs that uplift communities; and
WHEREAS, in addition to mentoring students in Cobb County and Marietta City Schools, the 2025 Omega Man of the Year serves as an Adjunct Professor at Kennesaw State University; and
WHEREAS, Mr. McNeil serves as the Chairman of the Board of the 2nd Century Invictus Fund, the independent philanthropic component of Chi Gamma Gamma, and recently steered to fruition the landmark creation of a Scholarship Endowment Fund at Kennesaw State University providing scholarship funds for high achieving scholars; and
WHEREAS, for several years he has held the position of Membership Selection - Chapter Coordinator, taking lead responsibilities for identifying, educating, and training meritorious college-educated men into the graduate Chapter Omega Psi Phi Fraternity; and
WHEREAS, Mr. McNeil is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist in Atlanta on the NBC-TV affiliate 11-Alive; earning awards including the prestigious American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval and being named by the Governor of Georgia to the Severe Weather Task Force in 2013; and
WHEREAS, he is a devout Christian serving on the Board of Deacons at Historic Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Marietta, where he also teaches Adult Bible Study classes; and
WHEREAS, he is a graduate of Wesley College, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Communications, and later studied geo-sciences at Mississippi State University, earning a Master of Science Degree in Meteorology.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Chelsey McNeil for his excellent, efficient, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and extend best wishes for continued telecommunications excellence and community service endeavors as a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Chelsey McNeil.
