A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Alpharetta Public Safety Director John Robison as Georgia's 2025 Outstanding Police Chief of the Year; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Director Robison began his career in 2002 with the Alpharetta Police Department and subsequently was hired by the Powder Springs Police Department in 2014, becoming Chief of Police in 2015; and

WHEREAS, he was appointed to the position of Director of Public Safety for the City of Alpharetta in 2017; and

WHEREAS, Director Robison earned a Doctor of Public Administration from Valdosta State University, a Master of Justice Administration from Columbus State University, a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University; and

WHEREAS, Director Robison serves as a professor at Georgia State University and Reinhardt University, providing instruction to and investing in the next generation of law enforcement leaders with passion and purpose; and

WHEREAS, Director Robison is the author of Compelling Force Leadership: How Leaders Can Use Their Influence to Effectively Lead People with Purpose and Passion; and

WHEREAS, Director Robison has reshaped the role of public safety in Alpharetta by integrating a culture of trust, transparency, and compassion into everything the department does; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his role as Public Safety Director, Director Robison was promoted to Assistant City Administrator in August 2025; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the members of this body show their gratitude for the positive impact that Director Robison has brought to the City of Alpharetta and to law enforcement leadership throughout the State of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the dedication and passion exhibited by Director John Robison in leading the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety and serving as an example and mentor for law enforcement leadership across the State of Georgia, and congratulate him upon his recognition as Georgia’s 2025 Outstanding Chief of the Year. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Alpharetta Public Safety Director John Robison.
