A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and memory of Mr. Ricky D. "Rick" Bailey; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Ricky D. "Rick" Bailey received his reward of Heaven, and the State of Georgia lost a kind and caring husband, father, papa, brother, and friend whose life of faith and service touched countless individuals; and

WHEREAS, born in Holly Springs and a lifelong resident of Cherokee County, Rick lived out his strong Christian faith from an early age; saved at New Light Church and later a member of Canton First United Methodist Church, he enjoyed Bible studies and carried a spirit of humility, compassion, and service throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, Rick was a proud graduate of Holly Springs Elementary, Cherokee High School, and Reinhardt University; in high school, he was selected by his peers as Homecoming King and Best All Around. Additionally his skill on the basketball court earned him the nickname "Chick," as his talent and demeanor reminded all who knew him of John Havlicek; and

WHEREAS, Rick met the love of his life, Linda, as a teenager, beginning a lifelong love story; together they raised four daughters and built a home filled with devotion, joy, and unwavering support; and

WHEREAS, Rick began his career as a health and life insurance agent and later founded Rick Bailey & Company, where his daughters joined him in the family business; and

WHEREAS, he earned multiple professional designations and served in leadership roles within state, regional, and national insurance organizations; and

WHEREAS, his contributions to the insurance profession were widely recognized, including state and national awards for service and leadership; in his honor, the Atlanta Association of Health Underwriters established the Rick Bailey Membership Award; and

WHEREAS, known for his love of people, Rick offered wise advice, listened with sincere interest, and encouraged others to "enjoy today" and "learn something new each day"; his warm personality, steady presence, and uplifting spirit were felt by everyone around him; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that this distinguished Georgian be remembered for his faith, kindness, and lifelong dedication to family, community, and profession.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body honor the life and memory of Mr. Ricky D. "Rick" Bailey and extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Mr. Ricky D. "Rick" Bailey.
