A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and celebrating the first HOA, COA, and POA Day at the capitol; affirming the Senate's commitment to listening to homeowners across Georgia; and recognizing civic engagement in support of the American Dream of homeownership; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, homeownership remains a foundational pillar of the American Dream, offering individuals and families stability, economic opportunity, and a meaningful connection to their communities; and

WHEREAS, a significant number of Georgians reside in neighborhoods and developments governed by Homeowners Associations (HOA), Condominium Owners Associations (COA), and Property Owners Associations (POA), which are an integral part of community life throughout this state; and

WHEREAS, homeowners have raised concerns and shared experiences related to transparency, accountability, affordability, communication, and due process within association-governed communities; and

WHEREAS, the Georgia Senate recognizes that listening to constituents is a core responsibility of public service and that respectful, open dialogue strengthens public trust and democratic governance; and

WHEREAS, HOA, COA, and POA Day at the capitol provides an opportunity for homeowners to engage constructively with elected officials, share lived experiences, and advocate for issues affecting their homes, families, and financial well-being; and

WHEREAS, this Day at the capitol reflects a shared, bipartisan commitment to hearing homeowner concerns, understanding emerging housing challenges, and working collaboratively-beyond political differences-to protect and strengthen the American Dream of homeownership; and

WHEREAS, civic participation by homeowners and residents contributes to informed policymaking and supports balanced, thoughtful approaches to housing stability and community governance.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and celebrate the First HOA, COA, and POA Day at the Capitol as a meaningful civic engagement event that elevates homeowner voices and encourages respectful dialogue between the people of Georgia and their elected officials. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate affirms its commitment to listening to homeowners' concerns, complaints, and emerging challenges and to working in good faith-without regard to partisanship-to address matters impacting housing stability, community well-being, and the American Dream of homeownership. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate commends the homeowners who participated in this Day at the Capitol for their civic involvement and advocacy, recognizing their engagement as an essential component of a healthy and responsive democracy. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
