A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the Mayor and City Council of the City of Mableton; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the City of Mableton is governed by the Mayor and six Councilmembers, who together form the city’s dedicated legislative and policy-making body; and

WHEREAS, in 2023, Mayor Michael Owens made history as the first mayor of Mableton since its incorporation; and

WHEREAS, as the City’s top elected official, Mayor Owens selflessly leads with a commitment to innovation, transparency, and service to all residents; and

WHEREAS, Mableton’s City Council is comprised of Councilman Ron Davis, Councilman Michael McNeely, Mayor Pro Tem Keisha Jeffcoat, Councilwoman Cassandra Brown, Councilman T.J. Ferguson, and Councilwoman Debora Herndon; and

WHEREAS, together the Council is responsible for setting the city’s vision, adopting ordinances, approving the budget, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality public services; and

WHEREAS, these community leaders have conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of their time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of the City of Mableton and the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the dedicated, selfless work of these public servants is appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the Mayor and City Council of the City of Mableton for their outstanding contributions to the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
