Senate Resolution 614 By: Senators Wicks of the 34th, Davenport of the 17th and Parent of the 44th A RESOLUTION Commending the Clayton County Government and Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, and recognizing February 5, 2026, as Clayton County Day at the State Capitol; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Clayton County provides a supportive environment for business and industry; it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding leadership and diligence of the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce be recognized for influencing the growth and perpetuating the thriving of this superlative county; and WHEREAS, the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1953, is a member-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting business growth and enhancing the quality of life through economic prosperity; and WHEREAS, the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce unites business and professional individuals by empowering local growth, improving business to business networking, and helping to strengthen our community; and WHEREAS, the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce continues to provide leadership and educational opportunities with their program; and WHEREAS, Leadership Clayton, a leadership development program established in 1972, has engaged over 1000 emerging and existing leaders in a ten-month program that broadens participant’s knowledge of community issues, sharpens their leadership skills, and challenges their ability to seek solutions to issues affecting our communities; and WHEREAS, chamber members are invited to participate each year in the Clayton County Day at the State Capitol to meet with our state leaders during the legislative session, discuss legislative priorities that are important to their business and the County, as well as see our state government in action. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Clayton County Government and Clayton County Chamber of Commerce on their distinguished leadership and recognize February 5, 2026, as Clayton County Day at the State Capitol. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce.
