By: Senators Wicks of the 34th, Kemp of the 38th, James of the 28th, Howard of the 35th
and Jones II of the 22nd
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Evan Oglesby; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Evan Oglesby is a distinguished former NFL player, known for his exceptional
dedication, perseverance, and commitment to community; and
WHEREAS, in addition to a monumental NFL career with teams including the Baltimore
Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, and Miami Dolphins, Evan Oglesby is a passionate
community leader, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and mentor; and
WHEREAS, founded in 2008, the Evan Oglesby Foundation has served over 50,000 students
through sports camps, summer camps, enrichment programs, school assemblies, and
mentorships; and
WHEREAS, the foundation has awarded 75 scholarships to graduating seniors as well as
helped hundreds of student-athletes secure college athletic scholarships, ensuring the future
for countless young athletes in the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, in 2011, The EO Center was opened in Evan Oglesby’s hometown of Toccoa,
Georgia, offering a safe-heaven of after-school programs, youth sports leagues, mentorship,
college tours, and field trips; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the work of the Evan Oglesby Foundation, Evan Oglesby is also
the owner of Protots Sports Prep, a youth program that gives young athletes the skills needed
to develop a lasting love for sports, and is a co-owner of the Pro-Mingle Golf Social, a
groundbreaking event series that redefines the intersection of professional networking, golf
culture, and philanthropy; and
WHEREAS, Evan Oglesby’s legacy continues to inspire many, both in the realm of sports
and within the broader community; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize and commend Evan Oglesby for his unwavering commitment to the betterment of
his community, state, and sport.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Evan Oglesby.
