A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Reinhardt University for serving the students of North Georgia for over 140 years; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Reinhardt University was founded in 1883 and has provided 142 years of educational service in Georgia; and
WHEREAS, the University is a top producer of public school teachers and leaders in Cherokee County; and
WHEREAS, the University boasts graduating top performing students in the nursing profession, with a 93 percent NCLEX pass rate compared to the national average of 76 percent; and
WHEREAS, the University has made significant contributions to law enforcement leadership through offering a high quality online criminal justice degree since 2013, an MPA in law enforcement leadership, and is the only private college in Georgia to offer a Mandate Police Academy for working adults; and
WHEREAS, the University has made significant contributions to the workforce in Georgia in the areas of arts, sciences, business, and cybersecurity; and
WHEREAS, the University has contributed greatly to the cultural life of Northwest Georgia by bringing professional performances to the Falany Performing Arts Center and Flint Hall; and
WHEREAS, the University has demonstrated a commitment to keeping the history of Georgia settlers and native Cherokee communities alive through the Funk Heritage Museum and Bennett History Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Reinhardt University as well as its administration, faculty, staff, and trustees for the important contributions they have made to the State of Georgia as well as extend best wishes for continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Reinhardt University.
