By: Senators Anderson of the 43rd, Howard of the 35th, Wicks of the 34th, Kemp of the
38th, Davenport of the 17th and others
A RESOLUTION
Celebrating the love, legacy and leadership of the 70th Platinum Wedding Anniversary of
Mr. Samuel C. and Mrs. Emma L. Peterson; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Mr. Samuel C. and Mrs. Emma L. Peterson married on January 28, 1956, and
this year will be celebrating their 70th Wedding Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, they have been blessed with the love of their remarkable children, Edith,
Priscilla, Patricia, Samuel, and Tonya as well as 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren,
and four great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding they have demonstrated has provided
the foundation and framework of success from which all of their family members have
developed and flourished; and
WHEREAS, in 2026, the Peterson’s celebrate a special milestone in their marriage, as in the
Bible the number 70 symbolizes completeness and divine purpose; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Peterson have long been regarded as one of the most renowned
couples in their community through their active involvement and devoted membership of St.
Luke A.M.E Church in Vernon, Florida; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that Mr. and Mrs. Peterson be congratulated
on their many years of happiness and their magnificent 70th year commitment to each other.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
congratulate Mr. Samuel C. and Mrs. Emma L. Peterson upon the grand occasion of their
70th wedding anniversary and extend sincere best wishes for many more happy years
together.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mr. Samuel C. and
Mrs. Emma L. Peterson.
