Senate Resolution 633 By: Senators Tillery of the 19th, Dickerson of the 21st, Albers of the 56th and Anavitarte of the 31st A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Zach Smith on his summits of the highest mountain on each of the seven continents; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Zach Smith, a Georgia native, began the incredible challenge of summiting the highest peak on all seven continents over 18 years ago, and completed his final summit in 2025; and WHEREAS, Zach reached the peak of Mount Everest, in Asia, at an elevation of 29,032 feet; Mount Vinson, in Antarctica, at an elevation of 16,050 feet; Carstensz Pyramid, in Australia, at an elevation of 16,024 feet; Aconcagua, in South America, at an elevation of 19,341 feet; Mount Kilimanjaro, in Africa, at an elevation of 19,341 feet; Mount Elbrus, in Europe, at an elevation of 18,510 feet; and Mount McKinley, in North America, at an elevation of 20,310 feet; and WHEREAS, Zach is one of three Georgians, 80 Americans, and only 232 people worldwide to complete this remarkable endeavor; and WHEREAS, Zach, a devout Christian, has shown perseverance, hard work, and complete humility in all aspects of his life and gives all credit and honor of his accomplishments to the Lord; and WHEREAS, he has answered a call to ministry to serve the children of Jefferey's Bay, South Africa, where he manages an orphanage for children whose parents have lost their lives to AIDS; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the athleticism, passion, and commitment demonstrated in this monumental accomplishment be appropriately recognized. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Zach Smith on his summits of the highest mountain on each of the seven continents and extend best wishes for continued health, happiness, and success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Zach Smith.
