Jackson, Beatrice "Bea"; recognize ## Text Senate Resolution 649 By: Senators Anderson of the 43rd, Harbison of the 15th, Mangham of the 55th, Sims of the 12th, James of the 28th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Beatrice “Bea” Jackson; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Beatrice “Bea” Jackson has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and WHEREAS, after moving to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1978 Bea worked for DeKalb’s Council on Aging where she helped to organize Georgia's 1st Silver Haired Legislature; and WHEREAS, she subsequently went on to devote 23 years as an Innovation Manager for the Northwest Georgia Girl Scout Council, where she designed and developed the Council's outreach program called “Girls Are Great” that not only received Regional acclaim but also became the National model for Girl Scout's of USA; and WHEREAS, following her successful career, Bea selflessly dedicated her time to the Washington Street Community Center where she is the Executive Director and has been instrumental in the development of that Center into a year round program center for youth and their families; and WHEREAS, she is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Covington Area Alumni Chapter charter member, a member of the Newton County Chamber of Commerce and is actively involved with Saint Paul AME Church in Covington, Georgia; and WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and she possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Beatrice “Bea” Jackson for her efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated service to the State of Georgia and extend their sincere best wishes for continued health, happiness, and success.
