A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Maraget Wimberly; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Maraget Wimberly has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, Margaret is a retired high school English and American Literature teacher with a distinguished 37-year career in the Newton County School System; and
WHEREAS, her unwavering dedication to student success, innovative teaching, and passionate leadership earned her numerous awards and accolades including the Who's Who among American High School Teachers and a Disney's American Teacher Award nomination; and
WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Margaret is an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Covington, Georgia, where she volunteers for the food pantry ministry and serves as vice president of the United Women in Faith; and
WHEREAS, she is a Certified Lay Servant and has served on the Board of Ordained Ministry for the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church as well as was the ADOX District Lay Leader for eight years, where she was in charge of 60 churches; and
WHEREAS, she further serves her community as a dedicated member of the Newton county MLK Scholar Committee, the NAACP, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and serves as Historian with the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., New Rock Chapter and as Corresponding Secretary for the R. L. Cousins Alumni Association; and
WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and she possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Maraget Wimberly for her efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated service to the State of Georgia and extend their sincere best wishes for continued health, happiness, and success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Maraget Wimberly.
