A RESOLUTION
Congratulating and commending the Kennesaw State University Owls football team for
winning the 2025 Conference USA Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, established in 1963, Kennesaw State University (KSU) has become one of the
largest public universities in Georgia, boasting more than 51,300 students across its
campuses; and
WHEREAS, KSU has established and maintained a culture of excellence and commitment
to academic and athletic programs; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership and guidance of Head Coach Jerry Mack, the Kennesaw
State Owls football team has demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and sportsmanship
throughout its second season competing at the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level; and
WHEREAS, the Owls secured a 10-game winning season, making Kennesaw State the fourth
team in history to win 10 or more games in year 2 of FBS play; and
WHEREAS, the Owls clinched their Conference USA (C-USA) Championship title with a
19-15 victory over Jacksonville State on Friday, December 5, 2025, marking a significant
milestone in the university's athletic history and bringing pride to all of "Owl Nation"; and
WHEREAS, Coach Jerry Mack was named Conference USA Coach of the Year, G5 Coach
of the Year, and a finalist for the Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, this championship victory serves as a testament to the talent of Kennesaw
State's student-athletes, the commitment of the coaching staff, and the unwavering support
of the KSU community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
congratulate Kennesaw State University Coach Jerry Mack and the Owls football team upon
the grand occasion of winning the 2025 C-USA Conference Championship and in
recognition of their exemplary commitment to sportsmanship and collegiate excellence.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the Kennesaw State
University Owls football team and Coach Jerry Mack.
