A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the Clayton County Democratic Committee; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, the Clayton County Democratic Committee (CCDC) is the county affiliate of
the Democratic Party of Georgia, representing a diverse, dynamic, and politically engaged
community in the southern Atlanta metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, serving residents of Jonesboro, Forest Park, Lake City, Lovejoy, Riverdale,
College Park, and Morrow, the CCDC has played a central role in voter education, grassroots
organizing, leadership development, and advocacy, helping to shape Clayton County into one
of Georgia's most politically engaged and civically active communities; and
WHEREAS, the Clayton County Democratic Committee played a significant and historic
role in securing President Joe Biden's victory in Georgia in the 2020 presidential election;
its sustained efforts contributed to historic voter turnout in Clayton County, underscoring the
importance of local organizing in achieving statewide civic participation; and
WHEREAS, the Committee coordinates voter registration drives, candidate forums, issue
based discussions, and election day mobilization efforts, as well as supports affiliated
Democratic clubs and caucuses such as the Clayton County Federation of Democratic
Women and Young Democrats of Clayton County that foster leadership development and
civic participation among women, young people, and other engaged constituencies; and
WHEREAS, as Clayton County continues to grow and evolve, the Clayton County
Democratic Committee remains committed to expanding democratic participation and
building political power rooted in community engagement; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to honor the remarkable accomplishments of
the Clayton County Democratic Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize and commend the Clayton County Democratic Committee for serving as a vital
force in Georgia politics and extend best wishes for continued growth and success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Clayton
County Democratic Committee.
