A RESOLUTION

Recognizing the month of August 2026 as Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic Month; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, The Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Kickoff Classic will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2026, marking more than three decades of excellence in high school football; and

WHEREAS, legendary high school football coaches Corky Kell and Dave Hunter served as mentors and leaders, fostering a supportive, growth-focused environment that empowered student-athletes to succeed both on and off the field; and

WHEREAS, Corky Kell and Dave Hunter shared a vision of bringing together the best high school football talent to compete in a premier kickoff classic for Georgia that would set the standard for the season; and

WHEREAS, high school football instills character, discipline, leadership, and teamwork in young athletes; and

WHEREAS, high school football promotes physical fitness, resilience, school pride, and a strong sense of community; and

WHEREAS, participation in high school football creates lifelong skills, meaningful relationships, and lasting bonds among players, families, and fans.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize the month of August 2026 as Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic Month, in honor of its 35th anniversary and its enduring impact on student-athletes, schools, and communities.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Corky Kell and Dave Hunter.
