## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Senate resolution congratulates the Creekside High School Seminoles football team of South Fulton for winning the 2025 GHSA Class 4A State Football Championship.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution passed by the Georgia Senate honoring the Creekside High School Seminoles football team after their 2025 championship win. The resolution recounts the team's undefeated 15-0 season, a 42-39 victory over Benedictine in the state championship game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and notes it was the program's first title since 2013 and a state scoring record of 845 points.
The resolution formally congratulates the team, head coach Maurice Dixon, and the coaching staff, and directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to the team. It does not change any Georgia law; it is a statement of recognition from the Senate.

### What it does

- Formally congratulates the Creekside High School Seminoles football team and head coach Maurice Dixon for winning the 2025 GHSA Class 4A State Football Championship.
- Recites the team's 15-0 season record and its 42-39 championship win over Benedictine at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on December 15, 2025.
- Notes the team set a Georgia high school scoring record of 845 total points in the season.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to the football team.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names the Creekside High School Seminoles football team, head coach Maurice Dixon, the coaching staff, and by extension the school and its South Fulton community, who are recognized for the team's championship season.

### Why it matters

The resolution carries no legal or financial effect and does not change Georgia law. Its significance is symbolic: it puts the Georgia Senate's official recognition on record for the team's championship season and provides the school a formal keepsake of that recognition.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses document the team's 15-0 season, the 42-39 championship win over Benedictine, and the school's first title since 2013.
- The whereas clauses also cite a state record of 845 points scored during the season.
- The resolved clause congratulates the team, head coach Maurice Dixon, and staff and wishes them continued success.
- A further resolved clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to make a copy available for distribution to the team.
