Senate Resolution 739 By: Senators Robertson of the 29th, Anavitarte of the 31st, Bearden of the 30th, Kirkpatrick of the 32nd, Dixon of the 45th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 26, 2026, as Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at the state capitol and commending law enforcement officers in Georgia; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at the state capitol exists to honor the local, state, and federal law enforcement officers for putting their lives on the line every day and to commend them for everything they do; and WHEREAS, law enforcement officers are highly trained professionals who work overtime to ensure the safety of our communities and whose duties primarily involve the enforcement of laws, protecting life and property, keeping the peace, and other public safety related duties; and WHEREAS, law enforcement agencies provide police services in the State of Georgia that are aimed at achieving more effective and efficient crime control, a reduced fear of crime, an improved quality of life, and an improved police legitimacy through a proactive reliance on community resources that seeks to minimize crime-causing conditions and ensures that all Georgia citizens are served in a professional, ethical, and equitable manner by establishing strong commitments with all segments of society based on trust and positive, professional relationships; and WHEREAS, law enforcement officers from local, state, and federal agencies work cooperatively to enhance public safety for all Georgia citizens and visitors; and WHEREAS, law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day as they serve with honor, courage, dignity, and compassion for their fellow citizens. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize February 26, 2026, as Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at the state capitol and commend law enforcement officers in Georgia for protecting our communities and for putting their lives on the line every day. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Georgia law enforcement officers.
