A RESOLUTION
Congratulating the Harlem High School Bulldogs baseball team for winning the 2024 GHSA
Class AAA State Baseball Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Harlem High School Bulldogs baseball team has established and maintained
a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and
WHEREAS, this superlative team completed its triumphant season of baseball competition
by posting an outstanding record of 38 wins and only one loss; and
WHEREAS, the team brought special recognition to its school and to Columbia County by
winning the 2024 GHSA Class AAA State Baseball Championship; and
WHEREAS, as further testament to their exemplary performance, the Harlem High School
Bulldogs baseball team earned a No. 1 ranking across all classifications in the State of
Georgia as well as a No. 9 ranking in the nation; and
WHEREAS, this championship victory marks the seventh state championship under the
guidance of Head Coach Jimmie Lewis, who now has more than 900 career wins; and
WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the
team; its superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach
Jimmie Lewis as well as Assistant Coaches Chris Waters, Rusty James, Hunter McBride, and
Lonnie Morris; and
WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is
abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
congratulate the Harlem High School Bulldogs baseball team for winning the 2024 GHSA
Class AAA State Baseball Championship and extend best wishes for their continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Harlem High
School Bulldogs baseball team.
