WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding Georgian be
appropriately honored during this special time.

## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Senate resolution congratulates Robert L. Strother, a middle Georgia logger, on being named the 2023-2024 Georgia Logger of the Year by two forestry industry groups.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution is a ceremonial honor from the Georgia Senate rather than a change to state law. It recognizes Robert L. Strother, who leads Strother Timber Company in middle Georgia, for being named the 2023-2024 Georgia Logger of the Year by the Georgia Forestry Association and the Southeastern Wood Producers Association.
The text describes his family's multi-generational history in logging dating back to the 1930s, his company's operations hauling wood across middle Georgia, and his community involvement with forestry education and industry events. The Senate formally congratulates him and directs the Secretary of the Senate to provide him a copy of the resolution.

### What it does

- Formally congratulates Robert L. Strother on being named the 2023-2024 Georgia Logger of the Year by two forestry trade associations.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Strother.
- Creates no new law, funding, or regulatory requirement, serving only as a ceremonial honor.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names Robert L. Strother and his company, Strother Timber Company. It has no regulatory effect on loggers, timber companies, or the forestry industry generally.

### Why it matters

This is a symbolic honor with no legal or financial effect on Georgians. It does not change any law, regulation, or funding related to logging or forestry, and its only concrete action is producing a commemorative copy for Strother.

### Key provisions

- The resolving clause congratulates Robert L. Strother on his award as 2023-2024 Georgia Logger of the Year.
- A further resolving clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to make a copy available for distribution to Strother.
- The whereas clauses recount his family logging history and his company's current operations but carry no legal effect.
