A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the Red Star Foundation; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Red Star Foundation is an organization focused on fighting against military,
veteran, and first responder suicides; and
WHEREAS, first responders such as police, firefighters, and EMTs face suicide rates
significantly higher than the national average due to relentless exposure to trauma, high
stress, and the stigma surrounding mental health care; and
WHEREAS, in 2025, an America's Warrior Partnership study revealed that 44 veterans die
by suicide every day; and
WHEREAS, more than 500 current military personnel and 500 first responders die by suicide
annually; and
WHEREAS, the toll of suicide extends far beyond those lost – it devastates families,
fractures communities, and leaves countless loved ones struggling with grief; and
WHEREAS, the Red Star Foundation is committed to helping service members, first
responders, veterans, and their families fight against the suicide crisis, focusing every effort,
connection, and resource on fighting against military, veteran, and first responder suicides;
and
WHEREAS, the foundation mobilizes its allies, leveraging the knowledge, skills, and
influence of every individual and organization willing to stand up against suicide; engages
public voices, involving every celebrity, public figure, and community leader, to amplify the
message and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health; empowers the frontlines,
providing tools, training, and peer-to-peer support for those directly impacted; and supports
survivors, standing with families who have suffered loss, honoring their loved ones, and
transforming grief into purpose; and
WHEREAS, the Red Star Foundation's innovative and compassionate programs such as the
Red Star Family: Peer-to-Peer Network, Red Star Service Banner and Pin, Red Star Pledge
Program, Red Star Voices, and Red Star City Program work to build awareness, connect
affected families to support networks, empower the voices of Red Star families, and ensure
that no military personnel, veteran, or first responder feels that suicide is the only option; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this extraordinary organization be
recognized for its many good deeds rendered on behalf of the citizens of Georgia and the
United States.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize and commend the Red Star Foundation for its unwavering commitment to
advocating for mental health and suicide prevention among veterans, military personnel, and
first responders.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Red Star
Foundation.
