By: Senators Harbison of the 15th, Robertson of the 29th, Halpern of the 39th, Kemp of the
38th, Orrock of the 36th and others
A RESOLUTION
Commending and congratulating George Washington Carver High School on winning the
2025 GHSA Class 2A State Football Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, on December 16, 2025, George Washington Carver High School captured its
second consecutive GHSA Class 2A State Football Championship with a decisive 24-7
victory over Hapeville Charter at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers completed an undefeated 15-0 season, demonstrating exceptional
discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and athletic excellence throughout the 2025 campaign;
and
WHEREAS, the championship game remained closely contested at 10-7 until the fourth
quarter, when Carver's determination and preparation propelled the team to score two
touchdowns just 33 seconds apart, securing a commanding victory; and
WHEREAS, JaMarcus Davis was named the game's Most Valuable Player after delivering
a pivotal 36-yard interception return for a touchdown; and
WHEREAS, Jakobe Caslin powered into the end zone with a 1-yard touchdown run in the
fourth quarter, quarterback Sebastian Herd connected with Kamari "KJ" Miles for a key
touchdown pass, and Kendrick Pierce Spencer opened the scoring with a 33-yard field goal;
and
WHEREAS, this remarkable achievement was accomplished under the leadership of
first-year head coach Jarvis Jones, a former National Football League player and Carver
alumnus, who has now won a state championship as both a player in 2007 and as head coach
in 2025; and
WHEREAS, this victory marks the third state football championship in the proud history of
George Washington Carver High School and follows the Tigers' 2024 state title, firmly
establishing the program as a dominant force in Georgia Class 2A football; and
WHEREAS, the players, coaches, faculty, staff, families, and supporters of George
Washington Carver High School have brought great pride and distinction to their school,
community, and the State of Georgia through their outstanding accomplishment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
commend and congratulate George Washington Carver High School on winning the 2025
GHSA Class 2A State Football Championship and extend best wishes for continued success
in the years to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to George
Washington Carver High School.
